3,6,6,8 to 4,7,7,9!

The month of May has begun. It's a busy month every year, but I think for the first time I've recognize it before it hit. December is a busy month but at least I am prepared, or more prepared it is coming, not prepared in really ready. Well May is my New December. I'm prepared for the madness. I have 3 birthdays, end of school year activities, and summer to plan. So I thought this would be a great month to add one more thing on. Blogging! I love my dang kids, and they are dang funny, and growing up to dang fast. Time to remember the madness. It's also the time of year I switch over to saying my kids are 3,6,6,8 to 4,7,7,9! That is too old. I always tease my kids to stop growing up, I mean it!

But they are growing up, and I find it funny I have to too. Babies and toddlers are hard, but I now I see these younger kids turning into little people who we want to be happy, independent, contributing humans to the world, so we, Jer and I, are "Steppin it UP"! (that is my cool segue to my next post to come)

This is for you Dad

My Dad called tonight. He is great, he will call with the only thing on his agenda is to ask me how I am and most importantly what my kids are up to. I shared with him a few top stories for the day. Of course he laughs and says that is so cute. Those kids are so cute. Who can argue with that? But guess what he said at the end of our conversation? He said the words, that I thought came from my mom but tonight I found out they come from my dad too "Honey, you should really write that down, before you are too old like me and can't remember these things anymore." So that sealed the deal. I took it as my final sign.

The top stories of the day.

Jer was leaving out of town today and will not be back in town until after thanksgiving due to family events, re-grand openings, and black Friday! (Yes, don't we all need a little black.) I had a list of things that I wanted done before he left. One was the Christmas lights up. He started this morning after early morning flags. He was one strand short, so I said I would run to Costco and pick up one more, I of course took advantage of the fact that AJ was napping and the Boys were at preschool and I slipped in several other errands. So, he literally was putting up the last strand and then put his ladder away got in the car and headed to Idaho before he was really late. 3 hours later, All the hard work paid off as we were pulling out of the driveway to gymnastics and the lights were on, Clarissa says " Wow" with all the amazement in the world "What a great Dad!"

The other thing on my list to do before Jer left was to put together a two drawer night stand that I bought for Ryker and Gavin. I actually do all the putting together around here, but I can never do it without my assistant. He has the big muscles. So we got it together last night and Jer moved it down while the boys were at school. When I showed the dresser to Gavin, I began to tell him the rules of his new furniture. No jumping off it, and only open one drawer at a time so it doesn't tip over. Then I said You have a drawer and Ryker has a drawer to put whatever you want in it. Gavin then begins to cry. It was so weird to me. I'm sitting there trying to figure out what is going on. Is telling him to not jump off the furniture that harsh? Clarissa is watching all of this and explains to me, "Mom, it is a happy cry." He then looks up at me half smiling with big tears running down his face. I didn't know 4 year old's had happy cries. I guess as a twin the kid has never had his own drawer before. I guess it is the little things in life that make us happy.

I'm not sure where Ryker was during all of this, but he caught on fast to his own drawer. Tonight his was so full of stuff you couldn't even open it.

I should write that down

The first title I came up with for this blog was "you should write that down" that must have been my mom's voice. Which she is right "I should write that down" which became my title. I'm now thinking about being more proactive and changing it to "I'm writing that down" or should it be "I'm typing that up" or I know..."I'm blogging that down". Nah, that just sounds a little too cool and that would mean I'm an official blogger. I actually don't even know how to do anything but type in this little window that it told me start typing in. This should be interesting to see where it takes me. Actually I'm sticking with "I should write that down". In talking to fellow bloggers, was you have your title you can just run with it and it becomes enjoyable. Let see.

Here is a list of my main motivation to blogging this all down...

To actually make a scapebook or a blogbook, or whatever you call it. I hear you can turn your blog into a book. I've yet to actually see one. But it sounds so cool. If anyone out there has one I would love to see it.

To stay connected with friends. My favorite friends in the world are the ones where there aren't a lot of conditions of your friendship and you can pick up right up where you left off, no matter how long it's been. I've been lucky in my life to have so many friends like this. But now maybe it doesn't have to be so long since we connected this way.

To get my family blogging.

To STOP and preserve the madness or I mean memories. I think about this a lot actually. I'm finally starting to see a little bit of the wisdom to all those crazy ladies who observe and then stop you in those lovely stressed out mom moments and tell you to enjoy this it goes too quickly. I really am surprised that I'm starting to think it's true. It can take me a while to catch on to things sometimes.

To enjoy life. My Grandma Ila is someone who in my eyes enjoyed life. She enjoyed little things and big things and everybody around her. She passed away a few months before I got married and I miss her and desire to listen to her stories and ask for advice. She kept a journal often so I asked my aunt once if I could read one of her journals as a young mother. I was sad and then comforted by my aunt guessing she didn't have one because she didn't have time or the energy. Did she enjoy these madness years? Am I? Lets find out.

This is my love, AJ at Easter. I haven't mastered the posting a picture thing yet in this blogging world. I found the first picture file I could find on my computer...and this was it. I have actually tried to move it or delete it, but haven't figure that out yet. I'm lucky this is the picture I randomly picked.

Halloween 2008

Our jack o laterns

Our beautiful Snow Princess (Clarissa)
Robin (AJ)

Batman (Gavin) his pet Bat (Ryker) and
his sidekick Robin (AJ)
They wear these shirts every chance they get. I rarely put them in matching clothes so I had to distinguish them some how. I thought this worked.
Gavin Green, Ryker Red
(just in case you don't know my color coding system)
Everytime I hug them in these shirts I tease them they are too boney to hug. They laugh everytime.
